In Part 1 of this article we listed but in this part we are going to discuss them at length

1. Companionship

Malachi 2:14. Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

This is when God was rebuking Israel for what they have done, they have broken many covenants and here God is telling them they have dealt very wicketly with the wife of their youth,  you who was PURPOSELY WAS TO BE A COMPANION,  THEY SHOULD BE ONE,  as Jesus stated in Matthew 19:5. And……… and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?. They have now become one.

This is a fellowahip and a union of one spirit, that is why sometime after some people living together for long they look alike in a marrige.

Please whenever you are thinking of marrying,  think of someone who will be your companion.

Please a companion is a person with with which you should share intimade,  confidential decisions with.

One of the major marriage breakers is where couples have outsise companions who are never their partners. In a marriage where you have so many secrets or confidential information which your partners doesnt know.  Like there are women and men who discuss most of their confidential issues with outside world and they make decision without consulting the partner. THIS IS BREAKING A MARRIAGE WHICH IS BREAKING A COMPANIONSHIP IN A RELATIONSHIP.

Please God designed marriage to be a place where secrets and confidential information can be kept until death do you part.

The companionship in the spiritual spectrum is brought and bonded by many factors like among other TRUST,  COMMUNOCATION,  SEX etc….

That is why Paul says when you have sex with a harlot you have become one with her or him, 

1 Corinthians 6:16. What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

We always talk of soul-ties,  soul-mate,  and Adam called it a bone of my bone and a flesh of my flesh. Gen 2:23

Your child, father,  mother,  brother and sister shall never be soulmate,  because there is no sex in it. So Paul says when you have sex with a harlot you become one with her/him.

PLEASE IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND YOU ARE MARRIAGED, PLEASE BE ASSURED YOU NEED TO BUILD COMPANIONSHIP, THAT IS WHY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT WHEN SOMEONE WAS FOUND COMMITTING ADULTERY THEY WERE STONED TO DEATH,  TO BREAK THAT COMPANIONSHIP BECAUSE IT HAS ALREADY OCCURED.

PLEASE STOP SEXUAL IMMORALITY YOU CREATING WRONG COMMUNIONS COMPANIONS WHICH ARE NOT GOOD BECAUSE IT IS SIN

IF YOU HAVE BEEN DOING (FORNICATING OR ADULTERY) REPENT AND ASK OUR MERCIFUL CHRIST TO FORGIVE YOU. ANS STOP IT.

2. Fruitfulness

Producing many offspring, or producing good or helpful results; productive.

Studies from the early 1980s demonstrated that children in situations where their parents had been involved in multiple divorces earned lower grades than their peers and their peers rated them as less pleasant to be around. Teenagers in single-parent families and in blended families are 300 percent more likely to need psychological help within any given year than teens from intact, nuclear families. Children from divorced homes may have more psychological problems than children who lost a parent to death. People who come from broken homes are almost twice as likely to attempt suicide than those who do not come from broken homes. Adult children of divorce tend to have lower-paying jobs and less college education than their parents,4 unstable father-child relationships. a history of vulnerability to drugs and alcohol in adolescence, fears about commitment and divorce, and negative memories of the legal system that forced custody and visitation.

All these list mentioned by Prof. Steven Gans and Dr. Jane Anderson, God foreknew them, and God knew that these things will happen. So that is why He brought up something called marriage that when reproduction is done the children who are born are living to find, parents who are COMPANIONS, LOVING CARING AND GODLY to bring a foundation to this children in a better homely family.

This purpose of God for Marriage is REPRODUCTION, BUT WITHIN THE FAMILY SETUP, that is why in the old testament,

1.            Anybody found fornicating, if you were not married, the man and the woman is pronounced husband and wife and the dowry is paid. If the lady was betrothed, the man is stoned to death, because this man does not respect another man’s covenant.

2.            Anybody found committing adultery were stoned to death because this is affecting a marriage or marriages. You are creating a soul tie with another person who is having another soul tied to, you are becoming one with another person who is already one with another person. Also this person cannot divorce to marry you because you begun with sin so you cant continue in sin, as @Nashon was explaining about divorce and remarriage.

God designed Marriage THAT BEFORE THE CHILDREN ARE GIVEN KNOWLEDGE THEY ARE GIVEN MORALS. So marriage is for REPRODUCTION BUT WITH MORAL FOUNDATION.

Gen 18:17 – 19  And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

God said that He will NOT HIDE anything from Abraham because Abraham shall become great and mighty nation to influence all the nations of the world. This is not something that might happen in Abrahams life because he is over 90 years, so being a great nation will happen with second and even the third generation when the nation Israel was born.

But because God wanted Israel as a nation He begun with the grandparents and that is why God saying. FOR I KNOW HIM, THAT HE WILL COMMAND HIS CHILDREN AND HIS HOUSEHOLD AFTER HIM. So MARRIAGE IS FOR PARENTS TO BE ABLE TO COMMAND YOUR CHILDREN AFTER THE LORD AND THEY KEEP THE WAY OF THE LORD.

Deu 6:5 – 7 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

God is instructing Israel that they should love the Lord and THEY SHOULD DILIGENTLY TEACH THEIR CHILDREN WHEN, WAKING UP, GOING TO SLEEP, WHEN SEATED IN THE HOUSE OR WHEN WALKING ON THE WAY. SIMPLY ALL THE TIME.

That is why God has decided to be the Father to the fatherless or opharns, and also Husband to the widows not divorcees.

These are the reasons why God hates DIVORCE because it going to affect the child. This is different from when the father or mother had dies the child becomes fatherless but with God as his father, and God as husband to the widow and that is why those we should be very careful when handling the orphans and widows.

Pro 22:6  Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Solomon said that we should train up children on how they should go so that in his late age they shall not depart from it. The bible is saying when a child is young that is when you train [train is teach a particular skill or type of behaviour through sustained practice and instruction] them in their early age so that in their old age they will live it.

Paul was instructing Timothy [1 Timothy 3 ] that when you want to choose and elder, please look for husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach v2; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; v4.

Paul was also saying that this man should be

1.            Husband of one wife

2.            vigilant, keeping careful watch for possible danger or difficulties.

3.            Sober, serious, sensible, and solemn

4.            And of Good behavior

5.            Rule, control of or dominion over an area or people,

When you are looking very well at this house or family is not a dysfunctional (not operating normally or properly) family, this is a stable family. Because any dysfunctional family also brings some challenges, because some things are not in order.

So children who come from Dysfunctional home are found with some patterns of behavious which are

So when looking at these points or behaviours they also share with divorced family behaviours and that is why God DESIGNED MARRIAGE TO BE THE FOUNDATION OF MULTIPLICATION, BECAUSE THE FRUIT IS DEPENDED OF HOW THIS MARRIAGE IS.

3. MARREIAGE TYPIFY CHRIST AND THE CHURCH

 Marriage is to be a human object lesson of the divine relationship between Christ and believers. (Ephesians 5:31–33.)

Eph 5:31- 33  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. 

This is a mystery has Apostle has stated it here, it is really a mystery completed because Marriage was the institution God created before any institution. Because when we are talking about the first marriage in Genesis 2:24 it happened that God was saying that a man shall leave his father and mother, and as we discussed yesterday on Fruitfulness, this man will have been trained very well by his parents while the woman will also have been trained by her parents and they shall both leave to cleave as companions. But as we look at the first marriage in the bible between Adam and Eve, God was,

• The Presiding minister
• Was the Best family
• Was the Maids parents and the Brides parents
• The witnesses

God begun a concept with Israel as a nation when they were in Egypt and Instructed Moses “Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn” (Ex. 4:22); “When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt” (Hosea 11:1); “For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn” (Jer. 31:9). God talked of this in the context of leaving Egypt, which in simple to leave in order to go and cleave.

Then God came up with another term with Israel after coming out of Egypt. More commonly, the Lord referred to himself as a bridegroom or husband of the house of Israel: “For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name” (Isa. 54:5); “For I am married unto you” (Jer. 3:14); “I was an husband unto them” (Jer. 31:32).

In the book of Ezekiel 16:1- 16,  God was sending Ezekiel to talk to Jerusalem, this God begun very well about the birth of Jerusalem, He said to Ezekiel tell her that her birth was in Canaan and her father Amorite and Mother Hittite and she was very native and no one admired her,  then God explained what He did to her and then v 8, ………._yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine. _

God called backsliding of Israel as adultery and mentions that He has divorced Israel because he has committed adultery.

Jeremiah 3:6 – 10 The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot. And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it. And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

That is why Jesus even agreed that divorce should be allowed in the context of adultery or fornication.

So Marriage was typifying the relationship between Israel and God as it was in the Old Testament.

Then when we come to the New Testament, which is a new covenant God decided to widen the net large and expanded it not only to Israel but to also the Gentiles. The announcer of Christ, John the Baptist answered very well when he was asked about the person he was witnessing of and He answered very well John 3:22 – 36, in v29 he said he is a friend to the bridegroom (A bridegroom is a man who has prepared himself for marriage and everything has been prepared, planned and arranged, so the D-day is waited for). John introduced Him [Jesus] as the bridegroom and he said in v35 he has given us the hint that the bridegroom is the Son of God with whom God loves so much and given Him all things in His hands.

So this takes us to the famous John 3:16 verse, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son…….. So here is leaving, for  A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER.

When Jesus was asked why His dsciples are not Fasting because the disciples of John and Pharisees were fasting in Mark 2:18-22, He answered and said in v19, …….Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

Also the first miracle did was also at a wedding in Canna Galilee John 2:1-12, Also there is a parable in Mathews 22:1 – 14 where Jesus was giving a parable of a King organizing a wedding feast for his son, and it has described exactly how salvation has now been extended unto the gentiles, because in the old Testament God call Israel the bride but now it is extended to the church where anybody no matter which nation you are coming from ONLY IF YOU ACCEPT CHRIST Revelation 5:9.

Which means Jesus was the bridegroom and that is why He loved and he even died on the cross for the bride which is the Church. The Church in simple in NOT A DENOMINATION AS MANY HAVE PICKED IT. IT IS NEITHER A MINISTRY. But it is the body of believers who have been Redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. That is we in John 3:16, ……FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVED IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.

So in John 3:16 Carries the Bridegroom the Bride and the Father who has realeased his son. THIS IS TO ALSO A Marriage TYPOLOGY.

So everyone who believes in Jesus Christ have entered into the Marriage covenant. Apostle said to the Romans that in Rom 8:11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. So companionship is brought about by the Spirit that we receive when we believe in Jesus John 1:12.

The marriage is also seen as a typification of Christ and the Church because of what we call the roles of the husband and the wife. Husband to love and Wife to Submit, in the aspect of the Headship of the family under marriage as Christ is also the Head of the Church after dying on the cross for it Ephesians 5:21 – 33.

In conclusion Revelation 19:6-10 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. 

This was a vision that John saw the D-DAY of the marriage, where the BRIDEGROOM is meeting with the BRIDE and John says that HIS WIFE HAS MADE HERSELF READY, ARRAYED WITH FINE LINEN CLEAN AND WHITE and FINE LINEN IS RIGHTIOUSNESS OF SAINTS.

PLEASE IF YOU ARE MARRIED KEEP IT, IF YOU ARE NOT AS YOU PLAN TO COME INTO IT, IT IS SERIOUS TO GOD.

KEEP YOURSELVES HOLY AS HE IS HOLY. IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND NOT BORN AGAIN. JESUS LOVES YOU AND FOR YOU TO BE IN THIS MARRIAGE SUPPER MENTIONED HERE ONE TIME. PLEASE GET BORN AGAIN AND WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION AS YOU ARE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.
